Week 5

February 11, 2013

Hey y'all,

Not gonna lie this past week was a rough week.
On tuesday my companion and I got dropped by a family of 5 with baptismal dates, and then two other people told us to stop talking to them so it was hard. And then the rest of the week people kept dropping our appointments and it was hard to stay happy with so much going south. We figured that the Lord was trying to teach us something but we dont know yet...

We think it was because we got a little prideful. For the month of Jan my companion and I were number 1 in the Fort Worth Mission with all of the key indicators and stuff like that. So we were feeling pretty good but then we learned that God does not like prideful people, and he needed to humble us and that is just what he did. :) So we have been learning a lot this week but it amazes me that the Lord will push you down, only to bring you up a little! Yesterday at church we were literally expecting no one to come to church. But then three investigators showed up!! And they were all excited and wanted to come back to church it was such a great feeling to know they enjoyed it.

Sacrament meeting was so great! they had 3 youth speakers and they taught out of preach my gospel and pretended that they were speaking to an investigator and teaching them. It was so neat to see that in only 16 years of their life they have come to know so much knowledge in this gospel! Primary, seminary and church really helps you learn so much if you just go with an open mind and willing heart to learn! It got me so excited for my younger siblings who were going to serve missions and for my cousins (cecily and michelle included)!

Last Friday we had the new missionary follow up meeting! So i got to see everyone in my district from the MTC again!1 it was so funny to see how different they were compared to just a few weeks ago when we were in the MTC! It was so much fun to talk about our mission experiences so far!
President asked us what we would have done to prepare better for a mission and everyone said almost the same thing. Study the scriptures and Preach my gospel more, not spend so much time watching tv and things like that. I never knew hoe much you use preach my gospel out here. It is the main source of everything that you do! And President Sagers always says " we only teach from preach my gospel, if its not in there dont teach it"
President Sagers, he talked to use about charity and love.
As missionaries those are the two important attributes that we need to learn. And throughout the rest of our lives. I know im trying to be more charitable and i hope you are too!
Radiate Love!!

Love, Elder Boettcher
