Life in Euless!

July 9, 2013

Hey yall!

So we got to meet our new mission president this last week and his family which was super exciting! They seem like great people! i am very excited to serve with them! President Ames is young and really excited to be a mission president and his wife is super nice and wants to help in anyway she can. I heard that being a mission president is one the more difficult callings in the church, and i believe it! The Ames family came with a 16 year old daughter and 13 year old son! I just cant imagine how big of a change that would have to be. President Ames is all about being healthy and exercising in the morning, and he advised us not to take secondes at meals with members! i thought that was funny! So for the next 18 months it will be interesting to see the change with the new mission president and all the talk about online missionary work and everything like that!

It was a good and busy week last week. it was weird because we were busy everyday doing some kind of service, followed with a lot of meetings and not a whole time to teach! i enjoy being busy but we did not teach as many lessons as i would have hoped to! because i know and believe that service is just as important as a teaching oppurtunity!

This sunday, we had Jim and Penny come to church! they were the cement couple that we helped! It was really exciting to have them come to church, i was nervous with it being fast and testimony sunday but it turned out to be a really great sunday, and they stayed for the whole 3 hours and they said they had a great time! we invitied them to come again, they didnt say yes or no... but i hope its a yes, we are teaching them this tuesday so i hope all goes well with the lesson. its a little nerve racking because i want them to be baptized and join the church because they would make great members but i dont want to rush, or make them feel like we are pressuring them to become members. because that is not what we are trying to do at all! I just can see how happy their life can be with this gospel!

Our ward mission leader told the story about how we met Jim and Penny and the service we did for them, and he basically told everyone in ward council that it was their responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach ( then he said expect the high councilors because they are just waiting to die! haha that made me laugh so hard ) so i hope this expereience we had will help members see how just offereing service can be a way to find people for us to teach.

My fourth of July was.. okay! we did not see ONE firework! i guess they are illegal in Euless and some people invited us to a firework show but we have a curfew! we did have a breakfast party with the ward at a park and it was fun! everyone brought water balloons to play games with, but it ended us turing into a ward water fight! it was so crazy and fun! they all attacked the sister missionaries and us, they even dumped buckets of water on us! in our church clothes! it was a lot of fun. Then we did some service and ended the night with a barbeque at a members home. overall it was not to bad! :)

Everything else is doing great! my companion and i are just getting along just fine, and the weather has not been to bad! its only been in the low 90s so i cant complain!

i love you all!
