Hey yall,
Last week we had zone conference, and there is nothing I love more than a Zone Conference. I learn so much and it's awesome to get to see missionaries I know! plus since I am waaaayyy out here in the middle of no where I rarely get to see other missionaries! I got to see some Elders and Sisters I served with in Euless and Arlington and its awesome to see them! There is just power and spirit when all of the missionaries get together.
I also love hearing from President Ames and Sister Ames. They are wonderful people and I really love learning from them.
We talked a lot about how important it is to get not only our investigators but all the members to do three things:
1. going to church
2. praying everyday
3. reading the scriptures ( especially the Book of Mormon )
And how doing these three things brings real personal conversion. It's interesting now that we focus a lot on less actives and part member families as well as the investigators. President Ames said that he was done calling what we do missionary work. instead it's " the work of salvation " and rightfully so it should be called. I never thought as a missionary I would work with members, I thought it was all investigators. As I have worked with members I have seen the importance of working with the members to accomplish the work of salvation. As President Monson has said.
"Now is the time for members and missionaries to come together, to work together, to labor in the Lord’s vineyard to bring souls unto Him. He has prepared the means for us to share the gospel in a multitude of ways, and He will assist us in our labors if we will act in faith to fulfill His work. "
Its exciting to be a missionary.
Well according to my companion we have already started celebrating Christmas this week, we put up our tree last Thursday... I think it's more traditional to wait till after Thanksgiving but whatever! and my companion wants to start buying Christmas gifts! so Christmas is going to be a long couple of months I guess! It is crazy its about that time!
We are still ever busy trying to find people to teach, its been a little hard because we aren't sure what we can do to find people. We are running out of ideas to find, hopefully some member can help us out! Yesterday some members actually invited their friend over for dinner so we got to teach a lesson with them and it was a lot of fun! And this week we have another family history night in hopes that members bring their friends to do some family history and we can invite some of our investigators to come do some as well!
I love and miss yall so much!
Love,
Elder Boettcher
