Happy Thanksgiving!

November 26, 2013

Hey y'all!

First off I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! It is crazy that it is already that time of the year, I love it though! I am so thankful for my family they mean the world to me, I do not know where I would be without them and I am so thankful for my parents and all they do for us kids. I also am very thankful for my friends and family! All of the support I get from y'all is the best and makes me want to continue to be a better person. I love you all. Most importantly I'm grateful for my Savior and all he did for me and everyone else on the earth!
The holidays just make me so grateful especially as a missionary.

This past week was a very interesting one thats for sure!
I went to the city of Hillsboro again for an exchange and I was with two missionaries, one who has been out 3 months and the other who has been out 3 weeks! It was so weird to be with such fresh missionaries! It was great to see their spirit and faith be super strong and how they just were hard working missionaries! And then I come back to Mexia with my companion who is so experienced and everything because he has been out 23 months, it was just funny to see the difference.

We also taught a few people and found a new investigator who is super sweet! We are working on having the investigators read the Book of Mormon and really pray about it. I feel like that is the main problem with investigators that do not progress is they do not really take the time to pray about it and read. It's so important and we are planning on reading with some of our investigators to help them have that spiritual experience to know that what we share is true.

On Saturday we were able to attend a Stake Center dedication here in Waco, Texas! It was my first Stake Center dedication and it was pretty neat. A couple of the speakers talked about the history of the Mormons in Texas and how it came to be today that we have a stake center in Waco,Texas. Since we are part of the Waco Stake it was neat to be a part of this ceremony. I definitely felt the spirit while the Stake President used the priesthood to dedicate the grounds of the stake center.

On a funny note, it has been raining all week here in Mexia and the average weather has been about 40 degrees! Man its been cold! So Friday when we were leaving an investigators house, I was driving out of her driveway when all the sudden we were not moving. ( you have to remember we are in the country! ) We get outside and our car is just stuck in mud! the front tires halfway deep! we spend 30 minutes trying to use wood and get ourselves out, nothing worked. we called a member who has a truck to come help us. and as he was coming down the road, just as he was about to turn left his back tire got stuck in a ditch of mud! now there was two cars stuck! We called one more member and this member is a real cowboy and he has this huge truck where he pulled both of us out. It was so funny! I got a good laugh out of the situation. my companion not as much because he ended up being muddy trying to get the car unstuck, and because I am the designated driver I was the only one who could drive the car :) funny

There actually was a small tornado that touched down in a city 10 miles from us!

Well I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We have dinner plans with an investigator and a member... or two... :) there is going to be a lot of food being eaten on Thanksgiving!

Love yall
Elder Boettcher
