Halloween is not the only reason why i love the month of october so much, and its not because of my birthday either even though i love birthdays and can't believe that i am turning 20! its weird how fast a year has gone by since i turned 19. man time does go by fast.
More importantly then my birthday is general conference!
Oh man was it a wonderful general conference this october. thats the thing i love about being a missionary. is that i actually get to watch ALL the sessions of conference and not have to worry about anything but getting my personal revelation, and revelation for my investigators. our prophets and apostles are truly inspired men and it was wonderful to hear from them. many good talks.
I had a cool experience with conference talks yesterday. While i was watching conference this weekend when i was listening to Elder Hollands talk an investigator of our came into my head. She has some intense health problems and i felt this talk was something that she needed to hear.
Yesterday night we had a chance to visit this lady. and she expressed how she was upset with her health and things were not working out and she was very sad. i told her that during conference i had thought of her during a certain talk that was given. and i wanted her to listen to it. my companion said the same thing! and we bore our testimony of living prophets and apostles.
before we left we pulled it up on her laptop and committed her to watch it after we left and to pay special attention to how she felt during it. We left, and when we got home 30 mins later we got a text from her saying..
" I am glorified by this testament and in aww of what he says. thank you for sharing it! it was wonderful! "
Once we received that message i was just SO happy! i was just filled with happiness knowing she kept her commitment and felt the spirit while listening to Elder Holland.
and i just wanted to teach her more! but we are going back in a couple of days to talk about it with her.
I learned a neat principle from this experience. That these talks that are given during general conference are not just meant for members of the church. they are messages that EVERYONE needs to hear.
I invite all who is reading this letter to watch/read general conference again. and when the spirit brings family members or friends to your mind that you think need to hear the message, share it with them!
I promise you, that you will bless their lives and your as you share the gospel and LIVE the gospel!
I just love general conference, and i hope yall learned a lot from it!
Besides general conference which took up most of the week. we had a couple of chances to do service for some members and enjoy local restaurants! people keep telling us where to eat so we try it and see if its good!
i am doing good and mexia is cooling down! it was 65 degrees this morning! i was so happy!
