Hey Y'all,
Wow it has been one crazy week.
My companion of 12 weeks Elder Lovato went home! oh man it was so sad to help him pack for the last time and hear him say his last companion prayer. We were so busy the last couple of days saying bye to people and it was just a little crazy. I will miss him but i know its time for him to get a wife!
I got my new companion, his name is Elder Evensen from South Jordan Utah. of course from utah but thats okay. Fresh out of the MTC!
Its a little weird to be training. i really had a feeling i would not be doing that again. in a way i am grateful, i am at my year mark and its almost like a restart of my mission with Elder Evensen. He is a good elder. He is so fresh i cant even stand it! its funny to have someone ask you all these silly questions you dont even think of because you have been a missionary for so long you are just doing what you know how to do, that when someone asks you " why " or " how " you stop and have to think. Its been fun but i also feel like i have a lot of responsibility on my part and i am so nervous because of that. i just want to do well with what the lord has trusted me to do but i feel so inadequate at times. But Elder Evensen gave a talk on sunday and the branch seems to love him so i know he will do well in this area. it should be a fun 12 weeks and now that it is warming up here in mexia it should be even more fun!
I got some GREAT news this past week. Norman, a guy that i was teaching in Euless got baptized! I was SSOOO happy! I started teaching Norman in May of this year and he was doing really good and even got sundays off for awhile so that he could come to church! We were working so hard with him to help him know God does love him and he is ready for baptism but it never happened while i was there. I knew in time he would. and it happened!! I wish i could go visit him! it was an encouraging story.
I have been reading the scriptures a lot lately ( if thats even possible as a missionary ) , and praying that they will sink into my heart and i will change because of it. and its really helped me feel like i have learned a lot more out of them. my testimony of the savior is really growing and i just love him so much! and i hope i can show that more with my efforts to bring the gospel to others. I am loving the Bible as i read it more because of the savior and i love the Book of Mormon and know it is true.
I also got to see Elder Leavitt! One of my good friends is training him, its always fun to see people you know in your mission.
We had our branch christmas party and that was a lot of fun. it was centered on the true meaning of christmas. of course the birth of our savior. which isnt really something that needs to be taught here in texas. everyone already goes around saying " jesus is the reason for the season " so its pretty fun to be around all the christmas spirit!!
I just wonder what santa is going to bring me this year.... ;)
we dont really have any christmas plans yet. we might have a meeting on christmas so we would have to open some presents fast and then drive 50 miles to waco! but we will see!
hope everyone is enoying the holiday spirit!
Love
Elder Boettcher
